Syringa josikaea is an upright to arching, deciduous shrub with dark stems bearing oblong to broadly elliptic, green leaves, paler beneath, and narrowly conical panicles of scented, pink-mauve flowers in late spring and early summer. Plant in full sun in a moist well drained fertile soil. Hardiness: H4. Pruning group 2, as it flowers on shoots grown the previous year. Eventual height of 4m and a spread of 4m in 10-20 years.
