'Winter Gem' is an upright, dense, evergreen shrub with ovate, glossy, dark green leaves and, from late winter into spring, clusters of red buds opening to tiny, highly-scented white flowers. Flowers are followed by spherical red-black fruit in summer and autumn. Plant in full sun/partial shade in a moist well drained fertile soil. Hardiness: H4. Pruning group 8, after flowering, trim or prune back any shoots that spoil appearance and shape. Eventual height of 1m and a spread of 1m in 5-10 years. Good for pollinators.
