For a beautiful winter garden...
Whilst having beautiful creamy-white flowers in the Summer, Cornus Midwinter Fire is really grown for the striking flame red coloured stems that are revealed in the Autumn and Winters once the leaves have fallen.
Midwinter Fire provides year round interest with the foliage turning orange-yellow in the autumn before revealing the architectural and stunning stems. This deciduous shrub has oval, mid-green leaves and produces small, creamy-white flowers in May and June. But it's really grown for the brilliant, flame-coloured stems that are revealed when the leaves, which turn orange-yellow in autumn, fall.
Plant in groups to add a riot of colour when all else is grey and dreary.
Tip - combine with purple and yellow varieties for a truly colourful winter garden. The stems can be used in the house for flower arrangements
Best planted in moist well drained soil in full or part sun, Fully Hardy.
