'Prince William' is a fast growing, self-clinging, deciduous climber with pinnate leaves divided into rounded to ovate, sometimes lobed, mid-green leaflets and, from midsummer to early autumn, tulip-shaped, semi-nodding, purple flowers, maroon to reddish-purple on the reverse. Plant in full sun/partial shade in a moist well drained soil. Hardiness: H4. Clematis pruning group 3, in early spring cut back the previous year's stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level.
